Caleb has lived in Eugene his whole life, moving to the Bethel area in 2014 to start a family. With his wife Riley, He raises 4 kids here off Barger, regularly visiting State Street Park, and traversing the bike path to Golden Garden Ponds.
Outside of his volunteer work with Bethel, Caleb is a residential contractor throughout Lane County, specializing in live-in remodels and additions.
His work during his first 4 years in Director Position 1 of the Bethel School Board included:
- Carefully considering new policies and their impact on Staff and Students
- Reworking existing policies
- Being present and accessible in schools at assemblies and history-focused events such as MLK Jr learning opportunities and Ruby Bridges walks
- Navigating city construction requirements for bond projects
- Working with the new Superintendent and setting district goals
- Attending every “Bagels with the Board” event, an initiative to get Board Directors into schools more often
- Meeting with parents during Long Range Planning events and other community outreach
- Acting as one of the representatives to the School Board with the Bethel Education Foundation Board
- Leading Board meetings and work sessions as Current Board Chair of Bethel School Board
- Prioritizing Bond activities during wild construction cost fluctuations in 2021-22
- Attending every Board meeting, committee meeting, and as many community outreach events as possible
- Speaking at the annual Oregon School Boards Association convention, extolling the importance of being accessible to your community and staff
- Striving to represent the wishes of Bethel Parents, and those who elected him
